  • Show the documentary "Paper Clips". This award-winning film focuses on a class project that began with an after-school study of the Holocaust by 8th graders in Tennessee. The goal of the study was to teach students the importance of respecting different cultures and understanding the effects of intolerance. To help the students understand the enormity of the Holocaust and the 6 million Jews that were killed, the students decided to collect the same amount of paper clips. For more information about the film, visit www.marionschools.org/holocaust.

  • Inaugurate a School Peace Prize to recognize contributions to violence prevention. Form a committee to establish criteria and award certificates of merit to students, staff, and community members whose efforts make for a more peaceful and constructive school environment.

  • Invite the Peace Corps to discuss their mission and present a volunteer to share experiences. COntact Jason Bowers, Peace Corps, 212-352-5440, or email jbowers@peacecorps.gov.
